Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. She sings as well. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that caused her to feel as a non-person. In her 9th grade when she began to gain confidence after being highly praised in an audition. The experience not only increased her confidence but also changed the direction she pursued in her career. In 1992, she earned her diploma from the New York's Julliard School. In 1993 she had her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. In the Broadway version of the original show Spamalot She played the role of Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. The recognition grew even more by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. She is known as a performer and has also released a single as well as an extended show. In addition, she's an activist who is a tireless advocate to protect LGBT rights.
